International Club and Forum teams revealed

This team tourny malarkey has generated alot of interest and banter in the past couple of weeks, and it is really gaining momentum now. In addition to the hendon mob forum, two other forums have now shown an interest in getting involved.

There will also be a warm-up between the forum team, club team and a club staff team. date to be confirmed.

Obviously i was honoured to be handed the task of selecting the club team. But having played at the club, and gutshot before it, for more than four years, I feel I have a good idea of who the best regular tournament players are. There are loads of good players at the club, but to be honest my first choice team picked itself in about 2 minutes.

Since then there have been a few changes to my line-up. Last night Barry, Cliff and myself sat down for negotiations at the club, some concessions were made by all sides, and my lineup did change slightly. But I still think it is a great team, with a nice mix of styles.

Talent and results were not the only criteria, we also had to take into account who is a loyal regular and character at the club (and who will continue to be).

To those of you who I have missed out: 'unluckeh', as charlie would say. But I couldnt fit everyone in, and a couple of the more obvious omissions will be in cliff's forum team.

Anyway, this preamble is getting out of hand. So here is my team, complete with cringeworthy cliché nicknames where applicable, in alphabetical order.

Akhtar Umberan
Andy 'the professor' Achillea
Gandi
Miriam 'blame the dealer' Seagal
Nico 'reallygamble' Protopapas
Phil 'WPI' Haddon (capt)
Riccardo 'nitrolla/tilt-tombola' Prola
Robin 'dangerous' Dhinsa
Sam 'the squid' Grafton
Vince 'the daddy' Gimigliano

subs:
1. Chen Yin
2. Matthew 'silent' Noonan
3. Lee Boys
4. Ash Miah
5. Rob Harkins
6. Danny Laming

Cliff's forum team is to follow. and it is also a fearsome lineup...

+1 to everything Phil just said and may I add that this was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Sending people home that have been on such an incredible journey is never easy but these are the 10 (+5) names that we be representing the Forum on October 2nd.

Also, thanks in advance to Barry and the club for arranging what will be some fantastic, fun and interesting team challenge matches.

(Can you please tell me your poker nickname if I have it wrong or it is missing.)

Team: (in no particular order)

Howard "The H-Bomb" Smith
Luc "I crush everything in life" CILY
Paul "Pokemon" Seaton-Smith
Big Sam Acheampingpong
Anthony "?" Tsang
Phil "Ostrich" King
Joejoe "I'm Good At These" Whittaker
Timmy "Table Talk" Lee-Davis
Ron "Support Me on Oct 2nd and I will Reveal My True Indentity" Burgundy
Mark "The Rapier" Wraith

Reserves: (in no particular order)
Dave "Top Gear" Clarkson
Matthew "MattMatt" Mattranga
Pat "Deep Stack" Stack
Dave "Deeve" Buckle
Rob "?" Loscombe

My understanding is that as and when a reserve is needed to step in myself and Phil will determine which reserve by drawing lots.

Disappointed. I didn't think i was good enough to make the club side, but thought i was a lock for the forum team. Especially as I won the last two forum leagues on the Gutshot client.

Although the way I'm running I'd have been first out anyway!
